The Nisaean horses wings of history

This is one of the ancient centers where the famous Parthian horses were bred. Every year, 20,000 stallions were sent from here to the Achaemenid kings for the great festivals held in honor of the sacred Mithra. Among the artifacts found in New Nisa, an image of a warhorse clad in chainmail and protective armor was discovered.

Herodotus (5th century BC): "In the East, there is a vast plain where wonderful Nisaean horses roam."

Strabon: "Nisaean steeds are the largest and most beautiful horses; they were ridden by Persian kings."

Baron K. Bode: "There is no doubt that Teke horses descended from the Nisaean horses famous in antiquity; the territory of ancient Nisa itself and the ruins of the cities around it are part of the current lands inhabited by the Turkmen-Teke people."

B.V. Kovalevskaya: "In the middle of the 1st millennium BC, the fame of Central Asian horses spread far beyond their habitat; Greek historians and generals on one side, and the rulers of China on the other, yearned to obtain them. The incomparable Nisaean horses graced the ceremonial processions of the rulers of Persia, Parthia, and Bactria. On these horses, Saka riders won victories over invincible warriors. These purebred heavenly creatures, under the saddles of the leaders of the Altai and Tuva tribal unions, have passed through the centuries; their radiant image is captured in the sacred sites of the Yenisei, Tuva, and Fergana."

Vegetius (Roman author, 4th century): "It is said of these horses: they are hot-blooded, light on their feet, and know no fatigue. They are incredibly hardy, stately, long-necked, swift, and have a beautiful head."

In conclusion, Nisaean horses are the wings of Turkmen history. These horses, which became the pearl of Ancient Parthia and brought worldwide fame to Nisa, are an integral part of the spiritual world of our people. Having passed through the trials of history, these noble creatures are forever inscribed in the annals as a supreme achievement of world culture.
