A flower-laying ceremony was held in Ashgabat at the monument to Mahtumkuli Fragi

Today, the National leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Mahtumkuly Fragi, erected in a picturesque corner of Kopetdag.

The ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, the hakim of Ashgabat, representatives of the Halk Maslahaty and the national Parliament of the country, heads and representatives of political parties, public organizations, ministries and departmental governing bodies, diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan and international organizations, students.

The monument to Mahtumkuly Fragi, built in the southern part of the city on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and thanks to the efforts of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, gives a special flavor to the architectural appearance of Ashgabat.

As you know, 2024 has been declared in our country the year of the "Storehouse of the mind of Makhtumkuli Fraga". The collection of manuscripts by Mahtumkuly Fragi is included in the International Registry of the UNESCO Memory of the World Program. In addition, the 300th anniversary of the poet's birth was included in the list of significant dates to be celebrated jointly with UNESCO in 2024-2025. The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) has declared 2024 "The Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world – Mahtumkuly Fragi."

The national Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, has put forward initiatives to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the poet-thinker at the highest level and popularize the poet's works, which have become a universal value.
