On 11 October, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, who arrived in our country on a working visit.
The Head of State thanked the President of the friendly country for the invitation to participate in the international forum held in honour of the jubilee of poet and thinker of the East Mahtumkuly Fragi.
Noting the high organisational level of the international forum on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet, the head of the friendly state stressed the significance of this important event in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
Within the framework of the development of interstate relations, great importance is attached to cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. In this context, special mention should be made of the ties in the spheres of science and education, health care, physical training and sports.
Trade and economic, transport and communication spheres, agriculture and tourism were named among the priority areas of partnership. It was stressed that the activity of the joint intergovernmental commission plays a great role in the activation of interstate ties, as it contributes to the practical implementation of the reached agreements, diversification and development of effective cooperation.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the priority directions of the dynamically developing Turkmen-Armenian partnership. As it was noted, our countries successfully cooperate in bilateral and multilateral formats, support each other within the framework of authoritative international organisations.
During the meeting, President Vahagn Khachaturyan presented to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov a collection of Mahtumkuly Fraghi's poems translated into Armenian.
At the end, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan addressed their best wishes to each other and expressed confidence that the interstate cooperation based on the principles of good-neighbourliness, friendship and brotherhood will continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
