The President of Turkmenistan met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran

On October 11, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

The Head of the Turkmen State expressed gratitude to the leader of the neighboring country for accepting the invitation to participate in the international forum on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of poet and thinker Mahtumkuly Fragi. Taking this opportunity, the President of Turkmenistan once again warmly congratulated President Masoud Pezeshkian on his election to a high state post, wishing him great success in his activities.

Expressing gratitude for the hospitality and congratulations, the head of the friendly state conveyed warm greetings from the Supreme Spiritual Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressing his best wishes to the Supreme Spiritual Leader of Iran, noted that the distinguished guest is making his first visit to Turkmenistan as the elected President of Iran.

As it was emphasized, a special place is given to strengthening relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan's foreign policy. Guided by the legal status of positive neutrality, our country carries out fruitful cooperation with Iran in various directions.

During the meeting, which took place in an atmosphere of openness, an exchange of views took place on issues of mutual interest in bilateral partnership in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as on international and regional topics.

Interparliamentary relations are given an important place in the framework of political and diplomatic cooperation. The interparliamentary friendship group of the two countries is successfully working in this direction. In this context, the expediency of holding regular meetings of the group, which is important in activating inter-parliamentary relations, was noted.

As noted during the meeting, our country implements effective partnership within the framework of regional and reputable organizations, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization for Economic Cooperation, etc. It has become a noble tradition for Turkmenistan and Iran to support each other's initiatives put forward on international platforms.

Trade and economic cooperation is one of the priorities of bilateral relations. Currently, these relations are steadily developing.

Within the framework of the interstate dialogue, special importance is attached to interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular, in the field of science, education, healthcare, physical education and sports.

During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan once again expressed gratitude for holding joint cultural events in Iran in May this year on the occasion of the anniversary of Mahtumkuly Fragi and for the active participation of representatives of the friendly country in them.

At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian exchanged best wishes and expressed confidence in the further successful development of interstate cooperation based on the principles of good neighborliness, friendship and brotherhood for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries.
