On October 11, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Forum "The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the basis of peace and development."
Welcoming the distinguished guest cordially, the Arkadag Hero expressed gratitude to the Russian leader for participating in the representative forum and congratulated him on being awarded the jubilee medal "Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna".
Thanking for the high award, the head of the friendly state noted the high level of organization of a major international forum and the efforts of the Government of our country, following the precepts of the great humanist Makhtumkuli, to preserve peace and stability in the region, expand and fill with new content multifaceted international cooperation.
During the meeting, it was noted with satisfaction that within the framework of the strategic partnership, the positive dynamics of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Russia in political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields is maintained, which is facilitated by regular contacts at the highest level and through the foreign ministries of the two states, and the intensification of interparliamentary ties.
As the National Leader of the Turkmen people stressed, the participation of President Vladimir Putin in this Forum testifies to the high respect in Russia for the work of Mahtumkuly. As you know, monuments to this outstanding poet and thinker of the East have been installed in Moscow, the Astrakhan Region and the Stavropol Territory. A secondary school named after Mahtumkuly Fragi has also been built in the Astrakhan region.
Speaking about cultural and humanitarian ties as an important component of Turkmen-Russian relations, Hero-Arkadag noted with satisfaction the regularity of mutual Cultural Days in the two countries, contributing to the further rapprochement of fraternal peoples.
As it was emphasized, Turkmenistan pays great attention not only to the culture of Russia, but also to the study of the Russian language and literature. One of the examples of a high level of cooperation in the field of education is the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School named after A.S.Pushkin operating in Ashgabat. Today, Russian is taught in all educational institutions of Turkmenistan. Tens of thousands of Turkmen students receive education in Russian universities.
The development of trade and economic ties, coordinated by the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission for Economic Cooperation, also occupies an important place on the agenda of the multifaceted Turkmen-Russian dialogue, according to general opinion. At the end of this month, a meeting of the co-chairs of the Commission is scheduled in Ashgabat, during which the state and prospects of bilateral economic partnership will be discussed.
Thanking President Vladimir Putin for his great personal contribution to the development and consolidation of Turkmen-Russian relations, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty wished the head of the friendly state good health and success in responsible government activities, and the people of the Russian Federation well–being and prosperity.
