On November 1, 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) headed by Advisor, Head of the IMF Mission for Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Anna Rose Bordon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects for further development of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the IMF.
During the talks, the commitment to strengthening cooperation was emphasized, including on issues related to Turkmenistan's intention to join the World Trade Organization.
In this regard, the importance of providing IMF advisory support to Turkmenistan, which has the status of an acceding country ("active observer") since 2022, was noted.
The participants stressed the need to consolidate efforts aimed at developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the International Monetary Fund.
