On October 11, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit.
Warmly greeting the head of the friendly state and thanking him for participating in the representative International Forum "The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the basis of Peace and Development" held in Ashgabat, the Arkadag Hero congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on being awarded the jubilee medal "Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna", which became a high assessment of the Uzbek leader's personal contribution to popularization of the rich creative heritage and perpetuation in memory of the great Turkmen classic.
As noted, evidence of this is the Resolution signed earlier this year on the wide celebration of the 300th anniversary of Mahtumkuly Fragi in Uzbekistan, as well as a joint biographical film made by Turkmen and Uzbek cinematographers about the brilliant master of the word, who occupies a special place in the history of literature and culture not only of the Turkic peoples, but also of the whole world.
Thanking for the kind words, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly appreciated the level of organization of the forum held with the participation of heads of state and government of a number of foreign countries.
During the conversation that followed, topical issues of interstate cooperation were discussed, as well as key topics on the regional and global agenda of mutual interest.
Highlighting political and diplomatic cooperation among the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, Hero-Arkadag noted with satisfaction the mutual support of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for each other's initiatives and proposals within the framework of reputable international organizations, primarily the United Nations.
The commonality of history, traditions, language and spiritual values serves as a strong foundation for Turkmen-Uzbek relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, as evidenced by the regular participation of creative delegations in international events held in the two countries – days of culture, cinema, joint concerts, conferences, exhibitions, festivals.
Taking this opportunity, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as a sign of friendship and special respect, presented the book "Makhtumkuli" translated into Uzbek as a gift to the Hero-Arkadag.
Thanking the Uzbek leader for the gift, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced the upcoming presentation of this poetry collection in the coming days and expressed confidence that the traditionally fraternal ties between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan will continue to develop dynamically and deepen in the spirit of mutual respect, solidarity and partnership.
At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors wished each other good health, prosperity and great success in responsible government activities, and peace, progress and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
