Turkmenistan will develop projects for modernization and electrification of the railway network

At a meeting of the Government of Turkmenistan, which took place on Saturday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the need to reconstruct domestic railways and modernize the material and technical base of the railway sector, study international experience in building an electrified railway network.

In this regard, the head of state instructed the head of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, Mammethan Chakyev, to prepare proposals for the implementation of such projects in Turkmenistan.

The development of these projects will increase the volume of domestic, transit and international cargo transportation, create new transport and transit corridors.

The head of state also noted that security measures for passenger transportation should be kept in the spotlight, according to today's Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
