On November 4th, a meeting was held at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University with a delegation of representatives from higher educational institutions of the Czech Republic , headed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Turkmenistan, Lubomir Frebort, along with the rector of the university, O. Öwezsahedov, and the heads of the university's relevant departments. The discussion focused on issues related to bilateral cooperation in the field of science and education.
The rector of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, O. Öwezsahedov, emphasized that, during the Revival Era of the prosperous state, under the wise leadership of our Honorable President, who successfully continues the great initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, the foreign policy of neutrality, good neighborliness, and the "Open Doors" policy, which forms the basis of Turkmenistan’s external relations, has contributed to the expansion of friendly relations with countries around the world. Strengthening and expanding cooperation in the fields of science and education has become one of the main directions of the country's foreign policy.
On his part, Lubomir Frebort, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Turkmenistan, stated that he would like to share the experiences of higher educational institutions from his country with the Turkmen side and cooperate closely in this regard. At the end of his speech, the Ambassador gave the floor to members of his delegation to briefly introduce their activities. The leaders of the Czech Republic's educational institutions spoke about their universities' history, structure, work on training highly qualified specialists, active faculties, fields of student preparation, and areas of proposed cooperation. These included Lenka Švesová, head of the Business School at the University of Chemical Technology in Prague; Pržemysl Palka, deputy dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics at Tomas Bata University in Zlín; Tomáš Šubrt, dean of the Faculty of Production and Economics at the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague; Sylvie Kobzew Kotaskowa, deputy dean for educational and pedagogical activities at the same faculty at the Czech University of Agriculture in Prague; and Professor Slawomir Horak, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Charles University in Prague. They shared information about their institutions, their educational programs, and proposed areas for collaboration.
Rector of the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, O. Öwezsahedov, emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation with prestigious foreign universities. He noted that recently an Agreement on Mutual Understanding had been signed between the Magtymguly Turkmen State University and the University of Peru for Foreigners. He expressed confidence that cooperation with the Czech Republic’s higher educational institutions would also be expanded in the field of science and education. He further invited professors, lecturers, and students from Czech higher educational institutions to participate in the 3rd International Chemistry Olympiad and the related international scientific-practical conference, which will be held from November 25-30, 2024. He also pointed out that next year, under Turkmenistan's initiative, the UN General Assembly will adopt the resolution "2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust," which will be clear evidence of the expansion of international cooperation on a global scale.
At the end of the meeting, participants expressed their gratitude to the leaders of both countries for the cooperation in the fields of interstate relations, including science and education.
