On November 4, 2024, the 17th Central Asia–Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum was held in Seoul under the chairmanship of South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yong. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The forum was attended by delegations headed by the heads of the foreign ministries of the Central Asian countries.
The forum discussed key areas of partnership between the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Korea, covering such areas as transport and logistics cooperation, energy cooperation, digital transformation and environmental issues.
Speaking at the Forum, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea B.Durdiyev noted Turkmenistan's commitment to the formation of large-scale ties within the framework of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum and stressed the prospects for further development of relations in such sectors as economics, transport and logistics, science and education, medicine, tourism, digitalization and high technologies, the field of security environment, industry, agriculture, cultural and humanitarian ties.
The Forum participants paid special attention to the results of the second meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, which took place on October 14, 2024 in Ashgabat.
At the end of the main meeting of the Forum, four plenary sessions were held in a hybrid format on the topics “Supply Chains”, “Environment", “Digitalization" and “Tourism". Representatives of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan took part in the online sessions.
Following the Forum, the heads of delegations adopted a Joint Statement and the Work Plan of the Forum Secretariat for 2025, and also got acquainted with the exhibition of cultural heritage of Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea.

In the afternoon, the heads of the Forum's delegations held a joint meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Seok-el.
Addressing the heads of the delegations of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, President Yun Seok-el expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended during his state visits to these countries in June this year and noted the readiness of the Korean side to implement the agreements reached during these visits.
The President of the Republic of Korea, addressing the Turkmen side, asked to convey cordial greetings to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
During the meeting, readiness was expressed to deepen political, diplomatic, economic and cultural ties within the framework of the Central Asia- Republic of Korea format.
On November 5, 2024, the regular fifth meeting of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Business Council was also held within the framework of the 17th Cooperation Forum. Noting the importance of intensifying economic relations, the meeting participants considered ways to expand partnership in various industries.
