A videoconference meeting was held with the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources

On November 7, 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a videoconference meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Jeffrey Pyatt.

During the meeting, the sides stressed the constructive nature of relations between the countries, especially in such areas as trade and economy, energy, transport, logistics and others.

The American side highly appreciated the progress Turkmenistan has made in fulfilling international commitments on climate change since the country joined the Global Methane Commitment. Geoffrey Pyatt also noted the successful cooperation of Turkmenistan with the American companies Tetrotech and Deloitte in the implementation of climate initiatives and projects.

In addition, the parties discussed key issues on the agenda of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29), which will be held in Baku.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation in the field of combating climate change and in other areas of mutual interest.
