The Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan A. Atayev met with the British delegation, headed by the director of the British Consulate in Tashkent, Denisa Wodding, in the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan on November 11, 2024. The parties discussed the prospects and directions of bilateral cooperation in the field of education, including the introduction of advanced teaching methods and the development of English-language programmes in educational institutions of Turkmenistan.
The British side emphasized that the purpose of the visit is to get acquiented with educational institutions in Turkmenistan, to hold meetings with their heads and teachers of the English language, as well as to study the current needs in the English language teaching. The possibility of introducing conditions for taking IELTS tests (this is an international English language testing system designed to assess the level of language proficiency) in Turkmenistan was among the issues that were discussed at the meeting. IELTS is one of the most recognized tests in the world, the results of which are accepted by more than 11,000 organizations, including universities, employers, government and professional institutions.
Moreover, the issue of developing partnership relations between the universities of the two countries, including programmes within the framework of obtaining a double diploma, was covered.
The parties confirmed their mutual interest in the development of long-term partnership and exchange of best practices in the field of education.
