After the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Chemistry Olympiad, the participants visited the Magtymguly, History, and Geology Museums at Magtymguly Turkmen State University. They were introduced to the valuable exhibits at the museums and had the opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical heritage displayed there.
At the Magtymguly Museum, the participants were told about the exhibits dedicated to the life and creative work of the great eastern thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, as well as the daily life of the Turkmen people in the 18th and 19th centuries, contributions of scholars and professors from the Faculty of Turkmen Language and Literature of Magtymguly Turkmen State University to the creation and enrichment of the museum’s collection. Also the participants could observe that the museum features a map of the countries the poet traveled, models of his native village and the educational institutions he attended, and books by Magtymguly Pyragy published in various languages and periods. Among the exhibits they could see rare printed copies of his works, manuscripts of ancient literature, numerous literary works, and scientific studies written about the poet. Artifacts vividly depicting the everyday life of Turkmens in the 18th and 19th centuries were also showcased, including household items, tools, hunting equipment, and various utensils used in daily life at the time. Decorative adornments of Turkmen Akhal-Teke horses were displayed as well. Additionally, the participants observed materials related to significant anniversaries of Magtymguly Pyragy’s birth, new publications exploring his legacy, and historical information about the poet’s work and influence exhibited in the museum. Additionally, the museum captivated visitors with poetic recitations of Magtymguly Pyragy’s verses in various languages and a brief theatrical performance based on one of his poems, leaving a unique and lasting impression.
At the History Museum of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, visitors were introduced to the rich history of the university, tracing back to its establishment as a pedagogical institute. The museum showcased information about the lives and careers of notable figures who graduated from the university in various years, along with their published works. Significant events, such as the visit of Hero Arkadag to Magtymguly Turkmen State University, and the scholarly contributions of our Hero Arkadag, whose works have been published in multiple languages, were also highlighted. The visitors could witness that the museum provides insights into efforts to advance the country’s education and science sectors, presenting exhibits that reflect the modern history of the university.
At the Geology Museum, visitors could explore an impressive collection of over 1,200 samples of minerals, ores, and fossilized objects, with detailed explanations about their diversity. The opportunity to closely examine these valuable exhibits sparked great interest among visitors, leading to engaging question-and-answer sessions.
