Today, a significant meeting took place at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan with the participation of an Italian delegation led by His Excellency Federico Failla, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Turkmenistan. The meeting was attended by representatives of Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the leading Turkmen universities, including the vice-rectors of the International University for the Humanities and Development and Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly.
The Italian delegation included:
- Plenipotentiary Minister Federico Failla, Head of the Italian Delegation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
- Prof. Filippo Costa Buranelli, University of St. Andrews, specialist in higher education.
- Prof. Carlo Frappi, Ca’ Foscari University, expert in higher education.
- Prof. Silvana Stefani, University of Milan Bicocca, specialist in energy transition.
- Dr. Enrico Veschetti, Italian National Institute of Health (ISS), expert in healthcare.
- Prof. Andrea Zinzani, University of Bologna, expert in water resource management.
The meeting addressed a broad range of topics aimed at strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Italy, with a focus on creating knowledge networks. The Italian side emphasized the strategic importance of partnering with Central Asia, highlighting unique opportunities for experience exchange and joint initiatives.
The main areas of discussion aligned with the topics raised during the Third Italy-Central Asia Ministerial Conference held on May 29, 2024. Particular attention was given to the following areas:
- Energy: Promoting sustainable technologies and sharing practical solutions for energy efficiency.
- Water Resources: Effective management and development of innovative usage methods.
- Healthcare: Professional development, knowledge exchange, and joint scientific research.
- Education and Research: Academic exchanges, implementation of joint educational programs, and research projects.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of education and scientific research as cross-cutting themes that support and enhance all other areas of cooperation.
The outcomes confirmed the readiness of both sides to deepen their partnership further. The initiatives discussed will contribute to the development of sustainable ties between Turkmenistan and Italy, opening up new opportunities for innovation, regional cooperation, and cultural exchange.
