TURKMEN DELEGATION PARTICIPATES IN EVENTS HELD IN ANKARA, TURKEY

A delegation from Turkmenistan representing the science and education sector took part in several events held in Ankara, Turkey, on November 28–29, 2024. On November 28, a meeting was held at Ankara Social Sciences University with representatives of Turkey’s scientific community. At this meeting, prominent scholars and literary figures from both countries discussed the contribution of the great Turkmen philosopher, thinker, and poet Magtymguly Fragi to world literature. They also exchanged views on future opportunities for cooperation in science, education, and culture within the framework of Turkmen-Turkish friendship and brotherhood. In the afternoon, another meeting took place at Ankara University’s Faculty of Language, History, and Geography, attended by Turkmen language lecturer Berdy Saryyev, lecturer Seljan Şahin, and several students.

On November 29, a presentation event was held at the Ankara headquarters of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY). The event introduced the Turkish edition of Hero-Arkadag Serdar’s book “Anau – Culture Originated from the Millennia”,” a TÜRKSOY publication dedicated to Magtymguly Fragi, and a special issue of a journal marking the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi’s birth and dedicated to Turkmenistan. Speeches delivered at the event highlighted shared historical roots, the path traveled, contemporary realities, common goals, and the unity and friendship of the peoples.

Later that day, the opening ceremony of the Magtymguly Fragi Research Center was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ankara. The event was attended by representatives of various Turkish ministries and agencies, diplomats, prominent literary figures, public figures, the Turkmen delegation, students, and media representatives.

Following the opening ceremony, the center hosted an exhibition showcasing books on Turkmen culture, artworks by painters, and traditional crafts, which left a lasting impression on visitors.

The first session of the Magtymguly Fragi Research Center then commenced. Topics discussed included the center’s goals and objectives, cultural and spiritual values of Turkic peoples included in UNESCO’s “Memory of the World” program, key sources of Turkmen literary heritage, a scientific analysis of vocabulary related to women in Turkmen literature, and the study of Magtymguly Fragi’s literary legacy within the framework of the year "The Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Fragi.”

The establishment of this research center will provide new momentum for studying and disseminating the ancient and rich history of the Turkmen people, including their literature, traditions, customs, and culture. These ideas were reflected in the speeches delivered at the event.
