The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic Begins Her Mission in Turkmenistan

On December 3, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis, D. Gulmanova, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hellenic Republic to Turkmenistan, Mrs. Ekaterini Xagorari.

On behalf of the head of state, the leader of the national parliament congratulated the diplomat on her new, responsible position and wished her success in strengthening the traditional bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and their peoples.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended in Turkmenistan, the ambassador conveyed heartfelt greetings from the President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who wished Turkmenistan’s leadership and people happiness, prosperity, and continued success on their path of sovereign development.

During the meeting, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis provided a detailed overview of Turkmenistan's key domestic and foreign policy directions, which have earned the country high international recognition and prestige.

It was noted that a priority of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy has been the consistent development of mutually beneficial cooperation with European countries. This cooperation is carried out both bilaterally and multilaterally, including within the framework of the "Turkmenistan-EU" dialogue and through major international organizations such as the United Nations.

The new ambassador was also informed about the large-scale transformations and reforms initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag, and successfully continued under President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the welfare of the Turkmen people. These ambitious projects are aimed at ensuring sustainable development for Turkmenistan and the entire Central Asian region.

In a comprehensive exchange of views on Turkmen-Greek cooperation, both sides reaffirmed their interest and readiness to enhance collaboration in the political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.

A separate topic of discussion was the multifaceted activities of the Mejlis, which aim to promote democratic reforms. In this regard, the potential for strengthening inter-parliamentary ties was explored, as their development is expected to contribute significantly to the intergovernmental dialogue.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception and productive meeting, Ambassador Ekaterini Xagorari assured that she would continue the efforts of her predecessors to expand and deepen the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Greece, in line with the interests of both nations.
