A NEW STUDY GUIDE FOR HIGHER AND SPECIALIZED SECONDARY MUSIC AND ART SCHOOLS

The musical art of the Turkmen people, with its ancient origins, stands out for its profound content and complexity. Passed down from generation to generation, it has retained its value and reached the modern era, experiencing significant development. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, notes: “The Turkmen people have many great masters of music and song art, such as Shukur Bagshy, Hally Bagshy, Tachmammet Suhanguly, Sary Bagshy, Oraz Salyr, Mylly Aga, Magtymguly Garly, Sapar Bekiyev, Purli Saryyev, Sakhy Jepbarov, Nurjemal Adyyeva, Chary Tachmammetov, Odenyaz Nobatov, Gurt Yakubov, Nurberdi Gulov, Mustak Aymedov, Yagmyr Nurgeldiyev, Akjagul Muradova, and Ilaman Annayev. Their creativity is an ocean of inspiration. Talented composers like Nury Halmammedov, Danatar Ovezov, Veli Mukhatov, and Chary Nuryyov have left a monumental legacy in national culture. Their songs, dastans, and compositions have inspired the nation and guided it towards a brighter future.”

The newly published study guide is titled “The Sonata Form in the Instrumental Works of Turkmen Composers” (author: R. Amangeldiyev, published by the State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan). It highlights the uniqueness, diversity, and significance of Turkmen composers’ creativity and its place in musicology.

The importance of studying musical forms in musicology is emphasized. Over centuries, this area has evolved significantly. As evidenced by the history of world musical culture, the sonata form is distinguished by its dynamic internal movement, dramatic development, and structural integrity.

The guide provides an in-depth analysis of the classical-romantic sonata form in the works of Turkmen composers, focusing on efforts to enrich this form. It explores the use of sonata form in various structures and tonal systems, as well as its departure from classical-romantic traditions in the works of the late 20th century.

The study guide is intended for students and teachers of higher and specialized music and art schools, as well as for a broader audience interested in music.
