From December 9 to 13, 2024, comprehensive training events and meetings are being organized in the People’s Republic of China under the framework of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program of the Asian Development Bank for professionals of vocational education from Central Asian countries to study experiences. Representatives of the Ashgabat Tourism Vocational School and the “Infocommunications” Vocational-Technical School at the Turkmen Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics are participating in this study visit.
At the beginning of the visit, a joint meeting was held with the leaders of the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, the team from the Asian Development Bank led by the Director of the Human and Social Development Sector, Sofia Shakil, and professionals of vocational education from Central Asian countries. Presentations were delivered on improving the quality and pace of development of education in the vocational sector in the PRC, management regulations, legal normative documents, and interdepartmental cooperation.
During the presentations, it was highlighted that particular attention is being paid in the PRC to implementing vocational education programs, improving the material and technical base, regularly equipping with modern technologies, and constructing new innovative educational buildings. Part of this funding is carried out by the Asian Development Bank. Subsequently, introductory meetings were held at the Guangxi Vocational and Technical College for all participants. The delegation visited exhibition halls, specialized laboratories equipped with modern technologies for teaching production processes using robotics, VR, and AR technologies. The college’s leadership, teachers, and students proudly noted that these facilities, meeting the requirements of modern standards, are creating new conditions for educating youth.
At the Guangxi Electromechanical and Polytechnic Institute, located in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, participants were introduced to the features and progress of collaborative activities of seven vocational schools operating under its base. In these educational institutions, they learned about the organization of electrical energy technologies, the study of innovative solutions in transport logistics, the establishment of renewable energy equipment production, and how students studying under international cooperation programs acquire global experience. Additionally, several other presentations were made to share experiences.
In the final days of the program, participants plan to visit the Railway Vocational and Technical School and vocational institutions at the Polytechnic University in Luzhou to explore the opportunities created in the transport and communication systems sector. They will also visit Guilin Tourism University to study its achievements, management practices, and ongoing project activities.
