On December 10, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Executive Director of the Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee, Ms. Natalia Gherman.
Expressing gratitude for the time allocated to the meeting, the representative of the largest international organization congratulated the head of state on the upcoming holiday – the International Day of Neutrality. She extended her best wishes for happiness, prosperity, and further success to the people of Turkmenistan in their chosen path of sovereign development. Ms. Natalia Gherman also expressed appreciation for the award she received – a medal commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker of the East, Magtymguly Pyragy.
Taking the opportunity, the guest conveyed warm greetings to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, the initiator and inspirer of a peace-loving policy that has earned Turkmenistan high international recognition and contributed significantly to global peace and security efforts.
As noted, the concept and principles of neutrality, successfully promoted under the leadership of Hero-Arkadag, have proven to be a fundamental element of both the internal and external policy of Turkmenistan – a state that today plays a key role in ensuring stability, security, and prosperity in the Central Asian region.
Thanking the guest for her kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his best wishes to the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, expressing confidence that Natalia Gherman’s visit would become an important factor in strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations.
As emphasized, the development of a multifaceted partnership with the UN remains one of the key priorities of Turkmenistan's foreign policy. With its officially recognized status of permanent neutrality enshrined in two UN General Assembly Resolutions, Turkmenistan plays an essential role in international politics, consistently advocating for peace, security, and independence.
– Striving to strengthen international legal order, we actively cooperate with the UN and its specialized agencies, supporting the development of a multipolar system of global governance and promoting the implementation of the principles and goals of the UN Charter, – the head of state noted.
Turkmenistan’s foreign policy is aimed at fostering dialogue and cooperation in the interest of stability and progress at both regional and international levels, continued President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. He underscored the special importance of developing ties with the Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee.
During the meeting, it was noted that Turkmenistan, committed to the principles of sustainable peace and international security, actively participates in efforts aimed at countering terrorism threats on a global scale.
Expressing confidence that effective interaction with this UN body is crucial for developing comprehensive and timely measures to strengthen international security, the head of state emphasized that Turkmenistan will continue to support initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation, information exchange, and experience sharing in counter-terrorism. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening legal and institutional mechanisms to protect peace and stability.
Thanking Turkmenistan for the productive partnership with the UN, which has constructively developed over many years and continues to expand into new areas, the guest reaffirmed her readiness to further contribute to joint efforts in ensuring lasting peace worldwide.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished Ms. Natalia Gherman robust health, well-being, and success in her new mission.
