Today, December 13, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Turkmenistan, Mr. Jaap Ora, who led the delegation as part of an official visit to Turkmenistan. Mr. Ora is accredited with residence in Astana.
Also attending the meeting on the Estonian side was Ms. Maiya Tasa, Consul of the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the prospects for developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education were discussed. The Turkmen side introduced the Estonian delegation to the latest achievements of Turkmenistan in education, including successes in digitalization and the implementation of modern technologies in the educational system. Special attention was paid to the digitalization of Turkmenistan's educational system and the potential participation in the international Program for International Student Assessment (PISA). The Estonian side emphasized its readiness to share its successful experience in implementing digital technologies and participating in PISA.
One of the key proposals from the Estonian delegation was an invitation for a Turkmen delegation to visit Estonia to study practices in areas such as primary, secondary, vocational, technical, and higher education. This visit is expected to strengthen interstate relations and create a platform for the exchange of best educational practices.
Both sides expressed mutual commitment to strengthening educational cooperation, which will be an important step toward modernizing Turkmenistan's educational system and implementing international quality standards in education.
