On December 13, 2024, a meeting of the Steering Committee on the Implementation of the Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development between Turkmenistan and the UN for 2021–2025 was held in a hybrid format at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The meeting was attended by the leadership and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, heads and representatives of various ministries and agencies of the country, the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, as well as heads and representatives of UN structural divisions.
The participants of the meeting noted that the Framework Program for Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development is one of the fundamental documents defining the development of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN and its agencies on a systematic basis. It also relies on medium- and long-term programs and plans for joint activities.
During the meeting, UN recommendations regarding the final evaluation of the implementation of the Framework Program for the period 2021–2025 were reviewed, along with the work carried out by each of the five Groups based on the results of the implementation of the mentioned document. Additionally, work on developing the next cycle of the Framework Program for 2026–2030 was discussed.
Summing up the results of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs assured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan would continue to coordinate the development of the document at the interdepartmental level, facilitating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
