Meetings were held between members of the government delegations of Turkmenistan and Malaysia

On December 19, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to Malaysia, where he held talks with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The meeting, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, covered political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. The leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing collaboration within international organizations such as the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Non-Aligned Movement, emphasizing shared goals in sustainable development.

A significant package of bilateral documents was signed following the negotiations. Among them were memorandums of understanding between universities of Turkmenistan and Malaysia, agreements on visa facilitation, the aviation industry, and tourism, as well as protocols on cooperation in the energy sector. Both sides highlighted the successful activities of the Malaysian oil and gas company "Petronas" in Turkmenistan, noting its contribution to the development of energy partnerships.

Special attention was given to humanitarian cooperation. The leaders discussed the translation of works by the great Turkmen poet Makhtumkuli Fragi into Malay and further cultural exchanges. Additionally, the President of Turkmenistan proposed resuming direct flights between Ashgabat and Kuala Lumpur to strengthen ties between the two nations.

The visit concluded with a meeting at the Petronas Towers, where prospects for expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector were discussed. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening bilateral partnerships, noting that the agreements reached would elevate Turkmen-Malaysian relations to a new level.
