The New Year was welcomed with great hopes and dreams

With kind hopes and bright aspirations, the joyful people of independent, neutral Turkmenistan celebrate the arrival of the New Year.

As part of the nationwide festive celebrations, performances by cultural and artistic masters, including theatrical artists, were organized. Beautifully decorated Christmas trees and the cheerful voices of delighted children added a special atmosphere to this beloved holiday.

In the square in front of the State Circus and on the "Ylham" alley, well-known pop singers performed for the residents and guests of the capital, who joyfully and enthusiastically welcomed 2025. Their performances praised the achievements of the homeland during this new historical era, highlighting the happiness of the nation.

These accomplishments were made possible through the successful implementation of state policies initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and currently continued under the wise leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. These policies aim to ensure the well-being of the Turkmen people and further enhance their social and living standards.

The slogan of the outgoing year, "The Treasury of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy," aimed to foster patriotism among the people. At the same time, the fame and international prestige of the homeland grew, inspiring compatriots toward new achievements.

As is well known, the continued study of Magtymguly Pyragy's life and works, the worldwide popularization of his legacy, and a poem dedicated to the great poet by Hero-Arkadag influenced the choice of the 2024 slogan. By Presidential Decree, the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen classic was commemorated at a high level both domestically and abroad.

On this occasion, a monument to Magtymguly Pyragy and a cultural park complex were inaugurated in the southern part of the capital, with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov participating in the ceremony. Additionally, a monument was unveiled in Astana, Kazakhstan, with Hero-Arkadag in attendance. The International Forum "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Foundation of Peace and Development," dedicated to the poet’s jubilee, was successfully held in Ashgabat.

Efforts in Turkmenistan to deeply study Pyragy's life and creative path have garnered significant support from international organizations and countries. The Turkic Culture International Organization (TURKSOY) declared 2024 "The Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World – Magtymguly Pyragy," and his manuscripts were included in UNESCO's "Memory of the World" register. The poet's 300th anniversary was also listed among UNESCO commemorative dates for 2024–2025.

This work represents a significant step in promoting the invaluable heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy, which holds universal significance and a golden place in world literature.

Throughout 2024, scientific conferences, creative meetings, film screenings, stage productions, literary evenings, and contests were held at state and international levels. Celebratory events in honor of the great poet were organized at the UN headquarters in New York and UNESCO in Paris.

Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the country's foreign policy, based on principles of peace, neighborly relations, and broad cooperation, achieved notable success during the "Year of the Treasury of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy."

This policy, reflecting humanity's interests, enjoys broad international support, particularly within the United Nations. It is evident in UN resolutions and international initiatives.

Significant achievements included UN General Assembly resolutions initiated by Turkmenistan, aimed at promoting peace, sustainable development, and prosperity globally and regionally.

The awarding of Arkadag City for outstanding achievements in "smart city" development, along with other international recognitions, was among the year's highlights.

In the educational and cultural domains, Turkmen students excelled in international academic competitions, earning a total of 821 medals. Athletes won 616 medals in 174 international events. The nation also hosted cultural events, such as the VI Vienna Ball and the II Theatre Festival of TURKSOY member countries.

Another key development was President Berdimuhamedov's announcement of the book "Magtymguly – Thinker of the World," a tribute to the poet's legacy and a New Year’s gift to the people.

The upcoming 2025 will be celebrated under the slogan "International Year of Peace and Trust," as declared by the UN General Assembly on Turkmenistan's initiative.

With such achievements, Turkmenistan confidently steps into the New Year. May 2025 bring success to the nation!
