The official visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan to the United States of America has began on September 30, 2024. The delegation includes the Vice-Rectors of the International University for Humanities and Development and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as the representatives of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, the delegation is headed by the Deputy Minister of Education A. Atayev. Meetings with representatives of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the US State Department, as well as with the heads of leading US educational institutions will be held during the visit.
The main goal of the visit is to deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of education, expand joint educational programs and exchanges, and discuss the possibilities of introducing new initiatives within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Education signed in 2023.
The establishment of contacts with American educational institutions and organizations will be one of the important outcomes. The delegation also plans to discuss the possibility of creating branches of American universities in Turkmenistan and further cooperation in training core specialists.
Topics related to the systematic and gradual development of the educational sphere of Turkmenistan, and further expantion of cooperation with the American side are expected to be discussed in detail during the visit. Important meetings that will take place during the visit will lay a solid foundation for long-term and productive bilateral relations in the field of education.
A key point of the visit program will be a meeting with the heads of Kent State University. This university, founded in 1910, is one of the largest and most authoritative public educational institutions in the United States, known for its innovative programs in education, business and technology. Signing of relevant memorandums of understanding between Kent University and three Turkmen universities, including the International University for the Humanities and Development, Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan is planned during the visit. These memorandums will become the legal basis for further cooperation in training personnel in priority areas, which will help to strengthen educational ties between Turkmenistan and the United States.
Moreover, the events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy, which will be attended by representatives of the university, Turkmen students and members of the Turkmen diaspora are planned to be held within the framework of delegation's visit. The program includes performances and readings of the poet's poems, as well as musical performances of Turkmen folk songs.
The visit will include the signing of key agreements that will provide the basis for further cooperation in the field of higher education.
The visit will lay the foundation for long-term and productive cooperation with American educational institutions, and the signing of memorandums of understanding with Kent University will open up new opportunities for the development of the educational system of Turkmenistan.
