This book discusses the origin, development, current level, and main directions of mulberry tree selection, as well as the varieties and initial materials for selection, methods for creating new varieties, pollination techniques, polyploidy, artificial mutagenesis, selection methods, and the creation of heterosis hybrids. It outlines the
procedures for organizing selection work, methods for evaluating selection resources, the organization of state variety trials for new varieties and hybrids, and the procedures for introducing them into agricultural production.
Cooperation between agriculture and science, based on new requirements, and the deep modernization of agricultural crop selection and seed production are important directions supported by the instructions and multifaceted support of our esteemed President, inspiring our farmers, scientists, and specialists to work more effectively.
The textbook "Silkworm Tree Selection" was prepared based on the tasks set forth in the National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022–2052, including increasing the production of high-quality silk, as well as expanding the cultivation of mulberry trees, the only food source for silkworms, and enhancing selection work.
The textbook covers the distinctive features of mulberry tree selection, the importance of varieties in agricultural production, modern selection methods, and the procedures for introducing new varieties and hybrids into agricultural production. The book is intended for students, graduate students, researchers, and specialists in relevant fields.
