Turkmenistan's Representative Participates in International Conference on “Regional Trade and Connectivity: Unveiling New Horizons and Opportunities”

On January 9, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan participated in an international seminar titled “Regional Trade and Connectivity: Unveiling New Horizons and Opportunities,” organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies, Research, and Analysis (ISSRA) and Pakistan's National Logistics Corporation (NLC). This was reported on the official website of Turkmenistan's diplomatic mission.

The seminar featured speeches from the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan in Pakistan, alongside Pakistani and international experts in economics.

Speakers highlighted the significant potential for trade and economic relations between Central and South Asian countries and discussed strategies for effectively leveraging this potential.

Ambassador of Turkmenistan A. Movlamov emphasized Turkmenistan's active role in fostering cooperation in the transport and energy sectors, which are key priorities of the country’s foreign policy. He delivered a report on Turkmenistan’s constructive initiatives, supported by the UN General Assembly, aimed at enhancing energy and transport security. He also spoke about the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust by the UN General Assembly.

As a prominent example of Turkmenistan’s policies, participants were shown slides depicting the groundbreaking ceremony of major energy and transport projects on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan border, conducted in September 2024. It was noted that the implementation of these projects would contribute to strengthening peace and trust in the region.

Ambassador Movlamov also elaborated on Turkmenistan’s efforts to expand transit and transportation networks along the East-West and North-South corridors traversing the country.

Pakistan’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Musadik Masood Malik, called for enhancing regional connectivity to provide countries in the region with access to vital energy resources. He underscored that joint projects such as pipelines, transport, and energy corridors could ensure stable and diversified energy supplies, thereby bolstering regional energy security.
