School students from Turkmenistan are participating in the 21st International Zhautykov Olympiad, held from January 13 to 17, 2025, in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. The Olympiad is organized by the “Daryn” Scientific and Practical Center of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan. Representing Turkmenistan at this prestigious event are three teams consisting of 21 talented students. Over 700 gifted school students from 15 countries are taking part in the competition.
The Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Daryn,” supported by the National School of Physics and Mathematics and the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan, is organizing the 21st International Zhautykov Olympiad (IZhO) in mathematics, physics, and informatics. The primary goal of the Olympiad is to develop international relations, enhance the importance of scientific knowledge, and strengthen cooperation among specialized physics and mathematics schools worldwide.
The opening ceremony of the Olympiad was held on January 13, 2025, at the “Palace of Peace and Reconciliation” in Astana. The competition consists of two rounds: the first round took place on January 14, and the second round on January 15.
The Olympiad is being held autonomously from January 13 to 17, 2025, and is open to all participants. However, participation in the online computer science tour is available exclusively to international Olympiad participants.
The competition features a team-based format. According to the rules, each team consists of 7 participants: 3 in mathematics, 2 in physics, and 2 in informatics, along with team leaders (teachers of mathematics, physics, and informatics). The team leader must speak one of the three official Olympiad languages: Kazakh, Russian, or English. Participants are allowed to complete their tasks in their native language.
On January 15, after the competitions, the “Daryn” Scientific and Practical Center organized a city tour in Astana for the participants. On January 16, they visited the State Museum of Kazakhstan. These excursions left a lasting impression on the participants.
On January 16, judges held a meeting with team leaders to review the participants’ works.
The results of the Olympiad are determined by the individual scores of participants in each subject. Team rankings are based on the sum of individual results. The best schools will be awarded diplomas and valuable prizes.
On January 17, the “Palace of Peace and Reconciliation” will host the award ceremony for the Olympiad winners and the closing ceremony of the event.
