On January 16, 2025, a pivotal online meeting was held between Coventry University and key stakeholders in Turkmenistan's education sector. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD), the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi, and His Majesty’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain, Stephen Conlon. The meeting commenced with a warm exchange of greetings. Ambassador Conlon and Ms. Sarah Chidgey, Head of International Education, extended their regards, emphasizing the significance of fostering academic and cultural ties between Turkmenistan and the United Kingdom. Representatives from the Turkmen side reciprocated with thoughtful remarks, highlighting the strong foundation of collaboration between the two nations in the field of education. The central focus of the meeting was an overview of the existing educational partnerships between Turkmenistan and the UK. Discussions explored potential areas for enhanced cooperation, with particular attention to fostering student exchanges, collaborative research initiatives, and joint academic programs. A highlight of the session was a presentation by Mr. Christofer Tagg, Associate Director for Business Development at Coventry University. Mr. Tagg outlined Coventry University's international engagement strategy, shared success stories from existing partnerships, and proposed innovative ways to strengthen bilateral ties with Turkmen academic institutions. The productive dialogue reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to advancing mutual goals in education. Collaborative endeavors such as these pave the way for enriching academic experiences, boosting cultural understanding, and driving innovation in higher education.
