Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Akihisa Nagashima.
Expressing his gratitude to the head of state for the time allocated for the meeting, Mr. Akihisa Nagashima noted that Japan highly values Turkmenistan's achievements in all spheres. Taking this opportunity, he conveyed greetings and best wishes from Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
Warmly welcoming the guest, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reciprocated the best wishes to Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The head of state expressed confidence that the meetings scheduled during Mr. Akihisa Nagashima's visit would provide an opportunity to discuss the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, and their results would contribute to enriching Turkmen-Japanese relations with new content.
As noted during the talks, Turkmenistan pays special attention to the comprehensive strengthening of cooperation with Japan in the Asia-Pacific region. Interstate cooperation is of a long-term, strategic nature and is actively developing and improving on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and trust.
Our countries successfully interact not only on a bilateral but also on a multilateral basis. In this regard, special emphasis was placed on the importance of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue.
Noting that this format serves as a platform for developing both bilateral and regional cooperation in various fields, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov wished success in holding the first Summit of the heads of state participating in the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue.
It was emphasized that Turkmen-Japanese relations currently encompass political and diplomatic, trade and economic, social, cultural, humanitarian, and other areas. The Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation plays a significant role in their development.
– As is known, the World Expo 2025 will be held in Japan in April this year. Turkmenistan also voted for its organization in a friendly country. Demonstrating great interest in participating in the World Expo, we have established a special Organizing Committee, and relevant preparatory activities are currently underway, – said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Taking the opportunity, the head of state wished success in organizing Expo 2025.
In this regard, Mr. Akihisa Nagashima noted that Japan expects the participation of a high-level delegation from Turkmenistan in the World Expo.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to further develop Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, enrich it with new content, and wished the Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, Akihisa Nagashima, good health and success in his work.
