Turkmenistan - State of Qatar: consultations on the "Road Map" defining specific steps for relations in the field of education

Today, on September 23, 2024, an online conference took place between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar, during which the roadmap for educational cooperation between the two countries was discussed. The Turkmen side was represented by the Deputy Minister of Education, Azat Atayev, while the Qatari side was represented by the Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs, Hareb Mohammed Said El Gaberi.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Azat Atayev emphasized the interest in developing cooperation with the educational institutions of the State of Qatar, noting that the visit of the President of Turkmenistan, esteemed Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Qatar on March 19-20, 2023, opened new opportunities for the activation of Turkmen-Qatari relations and the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Dr. Hareb Mohammed Said El Gaberi, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs, noted the consistent and productive nature of Turkmen-Qatari relations in the field of education and expressed the desire to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the negotiations, the parties reviewed the draft roadmap, which includes such areas as studying Qatar's experience in reforming the educational system, organizing short-term courses for Turkmen students and teachers, joint scientific research and publications, as well as developing double-degree programs in priority areas such as green technologies, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. The parties also discussed the experience of Qatar Foundation in managing educational institutions, establishing cooperation in the monitoring and analysis of educational indicators, developing universities as elements of the innovation ecosystem, and introducing STEM approaches into the educational process. Additionally, the parties agreed to cooperate in the digitalization of education and the use of Learning Analytics tools for creating personalized educational trajectories.

The Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan highlighted a particular interest in cooperating with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in the educational sphere.

As a result of the mutual discussions mentioned during the meeting, the parties agreed with the draft "Road Map" and confirmed their intention to implement it in practice.

In conclusion, the parties noted that the discussion of the roadmap between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar marked an important step towards strengthening bilateral cooperation in education. The implementation of the outlined directions will not only expand educational opportunities for the youth and educators of both countries but will also contribute to the exchange of experience in the reform and digitalization of educational systems. Joint initiatives will support the development of high-quality education and the innovation ecosystems of Turkmenistan and Qatar.
