In Geneva, it was proposed to hold an international youth meeting in the city of Arkadag

From 30 September to 1 October 2024 in Geneva, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the Summit of Mayors "Cities of the Future", organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.  

The Turkmen side was represented by D.Jumayev, the mayor of Avaz district. In his speech, D.Jumaev noted Turkmenistan's achievements in the field of sustainable urban development and shared successful projects aimed at improving the quality of life and creating modern conditions for the population.

Special attention was paid to the project of the ‘smart’ city Arkadag, which became an example of application of advanced solutions in the field of urbanism and sustainable development. The National Tourist Zone Avaza was also presented, where modern infrastructure for recreation and recuperation has been created.

The delegation of Turkmenistan proposed to initiate an international dialogue on water resources management and urban youth development. In particular, it was proposed to develop a new legal instrument on water resources management under the auspices of UNECE, as well as to hold an international youth meeting in the city of Arkadag.
