As part of the “Italian Design Days” held in Ashgabat, with the participation of Leandro Skalko, a designer from the Italian company “Modenese Gastone Interiors Srl,” he conducted a lecture for students of the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute on February 12 of this year. During the lecture, Skalko introduced his design works through video presentations and shared insights into the nuances of design and global experiences in the field.
After the lecture, students engaged in discussions with the guest on various topics that piqued their interest within the design field.
To mark the visit of the guests, an exhibition was organized at the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, showcasing the results of scientific research and project works prepared by the institute's professors and students. The guests also explored the exhibition and were introduced to the project works developed by the faculty and students. Among these was a proposal for the construction of a new building complex for the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute, designed by the institute's professors. The construction of the new building is underway at an advanced pace, with the expected opening set for September 2026.
The institute is conducting scientific research in priority areas of national development, including ecology and sustainable use of natural resources, energy, chemical technologies, production of competitive new products, construction, architecture, seismology, and information technologies. To foster the integration of science, education, and industry, an IT scientific and technical center was established at the institute in October 2024. Several modern project works created by the professors and students of the institute have already been implemented.
Additionally, a meeting was held at the Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute with Luigi Ferrari, the Ambassador of Italy to Turkmenistan, and representatives of the embassy. During the meeting, matters of cooperation in the fields of science and education were discussed.
The Turkmen State Architecture and Construction Institute collaborates with prestigious Italian universities such as the Ca' Foscari University of Venice and the Polytechnic University of Milan under an agreement aimed at fostering cooperation in science and education.
