Meeting Between the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and Representatives of Nottingham Trent University

On February 18, 2025, a meeting took place in Ashgabat between representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and a delegation from Nottingham Trent University (UK). The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in higher education, particularly in enhancing English language teaching, teacher training programs, and academic exchanges.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Martin Seviour and Sam Barkley, representatives of Nottingham Trent University, alongside officials from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. This mission was carried out within the framework of the Bilateral Cooperation Grant Program between Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammed Azadi, with representatives of Nottingham Trent University leading professional development training sessions for relevant institutions in Turkmenistan. The primary objective of this initiative was to enhance the quality of English language teaching, foster academic collaboration, and introduce innovative teaching methodologies.

During the discussions, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening academic cooperation, developing joint research projects, and integrating digital educational tools. Special attention was given to organizing masterclasses and workshops for English language teachers, aimed at improving teaching methodologies and incorporating innovative technologies into the educational process. Additionally, the opportunities for student and faculty exchange programs were explored, as such initiatives would contribute to cultural and academic development.

The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan expressed its support for initiatives aimed at advancing teacher training and modernizing English language instruction. The expertise and experience of Nottingham Trent University in curriculum development and digital education were highly appreciated. Both parties agreed on the necessity of implementing joint educational programs and introducing innovative teaching methods.

This meeting marked another significant step in expanding international academic ties, reflecting Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening its higher education system through global partnerships.

Both the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and Nottingham Trent University expressed confidence in the successful implementation of joint initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the coming years.
