The project of the "Program for Strengthening International Cooperation of Turkmenistan in the Field of Renewable Energy Sources for 2025–2030" has been developed

On March 14, President Serdar Berdymukhamedov held a regular Cabinet of Ministers meeting via a digital system, where a number of issues concerning state affairs were on the agenda.

During the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov reported on the steps being taken to develop Turkmenistan’s international cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources.

As noted, based on the initiatives of the head of state, Turkmenistan’s foreign policy places special emphasis on pressing global issues, including strengthening energy security, transitioning to a "green" economy in response to climate change, and the rational use of energy resources.

Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdymukhamedov, comprehensive work is being carried out to implement the provisions of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Renewable Energy Sources" and the "National Strategy of Turkmenistan for the Development of Renewable Energy until 2030." At the same time, Turkmenistan is successfully fulfilling its commitments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change.

In this regard, following the instructions of the head of state, drafts of the Program for Strengthening International Cooperation of Turkmenistan in the Field of Renewable Energy Sources for 2025–2030 and a set of measures for its implementation have been prepared. This work has been carried out in cooperation with relevant ministries, industry agencies, and interested foreign partners. In particular, close interaction was maintained with specialists from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the UN Environment Programme, UNDP, the UN Industrial Development Organization, the Global Environment Facility, as well as the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia and the Asian Development Bank.

The aforementioned Program aims to establish and enhance constructive cooperation in this field with reputable international organizations, financial institutions, research centers, leading countries of the world, and foreign companies. In this context, a corresponding proposal was submitted for the consideration of the President of Turkmenistan.

Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdymukhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan pays great attention to the development of renewable energy sources. The country also has favorable conditions for the utilization of solar and wind energy.
