On March 16, 2025, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, R. Meredov, met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
At the beginning of the meeting, the parties discussed the expansion of bilateral relations in political and diplomatic, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Emphasizing the development of bilateral cooperation and a stable, trusting political dialogue, the ministers noted that the meetings between the Heads of the two states give a significant impetus to Turkmen-Qatari relations.
During the conversation, the parties also highlighted energy, investment, and transport as promising areas of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Qatar.
Additionally, a detailed exchange of views took place on regional security issues, development priorities, and the socio-economic situation in Afghanistan.
In particular, the progress of construction work on the Serhetabat-Herat section in Afghanistan, a key stage in implementing the transnational Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, was discussed. The Qatari side highly appreciated cooperation in this area.
The parties also noted the constructive nature of cooperation within international organizations.
In this regard, the upcoming high-level Forum in Turkmenistan on December 12, 2025, within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, was highlighted. The Qatari side has been invited to participate in this significant event.
