On March 18, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), Dimitri Kerkentzes.
Expressing his sincere gratitude to the head of state for the time and opportunity to personally discuss current cooperation issues, the guest emphasized BIE's continuous interest in expanding its traditional partnership with our country. He also took the opportunity to commend the high level of organization of the exhibition currently taking place in the capital on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
Warmly welcoming the Secretary General of BIE, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that as part of his visit to our country, Dimitri Kerkentzes is expected to participate in high-level meetings, as well as in the next session of the Administrative and Budgetary Committee of the Bureau International des Expositions. In this regard, firm confidence was expressed that this would contribute to the further strengthening of Turkmenistan’s cooperation with BIE.
As noted, developing partnerships with reputable international organizations is one of the priority areas of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. In this context, the effectiveness of the established relations between our country and BIE was emphasized.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to the important role of international exhibitions in developing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation and global economic activity.
It was highlighted that national and international exhibitions and forums showcase the country’s economic growth, achievements, and successes while facilitating innovation, trade, and scientific and technological cooperation.
Our country is carrying out a comprehensive program to expand cooperation with foreign countries. In accordance with the "Concept of Turkmenistan’s International Exhibition Activities for 2024–2025," great importance is attached to developing effective relations with BIE.
As a member of this organization, Turkmenistan actively participates in world and specialized exhibitions held in various countries.
As is known, in April of this year, the World Expo 2025 will take place in Osaka, Japan, organized by the Bureau International des Expositions. The head of state assured that Turkmenistan would actively participate in this major international event and expressed his best wishes for the successful hosting of the upcoming exhibition.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to continuing to organize internationally significant exhibitions aimed at global development and strengthening fruitful cooperation in this area. He also wished Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions, Dimitri Kerkentzes, success in his work.
