On March 19, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the conversation, they discussed opportunities to deepen the traditional interstate cooperation that has been successfully developing over the years on both bilateral and multilateral levels.
Warmly greeting each other, Hero-Arkadag and the head of the friendly state first exchanged congratulations on the upcoming holiday—Nowruz Bayramy—extending their best wishes to the fraternal peoples of both countries.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that Nowruz has symbolized the renewal of nature and the strengthening of human bonds since ancient times. This bright holiday intertwines the customs and traditions of various peoples, demonstrating their aspiration for peace, unity, and prosperity.
It was emphasized that today, this holiday takes on a special meaning, as the ideals and values embedded in its foundation are more relevant than ever in the modern world.
“We celebrate Nowruz Bayramy in the International Year of Peace and Trust, firmly believing that the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples, following the wise teachings of their ancestors, will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder on the path of strengthening brotherhood, friendship, and good neighborliness,” said Hero-Arkadag.
Expressing gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his significant personal contribution to strengthening relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted with satisfaction that today, bilateral ties are actively developing across a broad spectrum of areas.
According to Hero-Arkadag, the main factor driving this dynamic is the open, trusting, and constructive political dialogue established at the highest state level. The meetings and contacts between the leaders of the two states serve as a powerful impetus for further deepening Turkmen-Uzbek strategic partnership.
This effective form of interstate interaction yields tangible political results not only in bilateral cooperation but also in multilateral formats, where Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan actively work together to promote common goals.
“We fully support the upcoming summits 'Central Asia – European Union' and 'Central Asia – Gulf Countries' in Uzbekistan this year, as well as the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia,” emphasized the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, expressing confidence in fruitful joint work on preparing and successfully holding these high-level international events.
Another topic discussed in the context of international activities was the international conference scheduled for March 29 in the city of Arkadag, titled "The Year of Peace and Trust: Developing International Activities for the Sake of Children." The event is organized by the Charitable Foundation named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which provides assistance to children in need of guardianship.
Expressing appreciation for Turkmenistan’s proactive approach to addressing pressing contemporary issues and effectively building interstate relations on bilateral and multilateral levels, the Uzbek leader voiced confidence that joint efforts and coordinated actions would contribute to the sustainable and stable development of not only the two neighboring countries but the entire Central Asian region.
“As we can see, the year 2025, declared the ‘International Year of Peace and Trust,’ is rich in international events in both Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. All these events are dedicated to noble goals—strengthening friendship between nations, fostering cooperation between states, and expanding people-to-people ties,” said the National Leader of the Turkmen people in conclusion. He also expressed confidence that the two brotherly countries, possessing high international standing and actively promoting the principles of the United Nations in their domestic and foreign policies, would continue to make a significant contribution to implementing long-term and large-scale strategies and programs adopted by the Community of Nations, helping to consolidate international efforts in ensuring global peace, security, stability, and sustainable development on the planet.
At the end of the telephone conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, wished each other good health and great success in their state and international activities, as well as peace, happiness, prosperity, and well-being to the fraternal peoples of the two friendly countries.
