In the second half of March, Gulshat Gurbandurdyeva, a lecturer at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, took part in an educational seminar held at the NTPC-National Thermal Power Corporation School of Business for the Advanced Training of Teachers and Researchers in Delhi, India.
NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation) is the largest state-owned energy company in India engaged in the production of electricity. NTPC was founded in 1975 and is one of the leading electricity producers in the country. It operates numerous thermal power plants and is also actively involved in renewable energy projects such as solar and wind energy.
The seminar was organized within the framework of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program and was devoted to the topic of “Cross-Border Energy Trade”, which focuses on the challenges and opportunities associated with the transmission and distribution of energy between countries and regions. This is an important topic in light of the growing demand for energy resources and the need for efficient use of available energy sources, as well as improving energy security at the international level.
Launched in 1964, the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme is one of the leading international educational initiatives. The programme includes a wide range of activities aimed at building international human resource capacity, organizing professional training for specialists from partner countries. The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme not only contributes to strengthening international ties, but also has a significant impact on increasing the level of knowledge of participants, their professional growth and development. The programme provides participants with an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in various fields, including energy, which is especially important in the context of rapidly changing global challenges.
The advanced training course, which brought together 19 representatives of higher education institutions, energy sector professionals from 10 countries, is an innovative educational program focused on topics related to the planning, design and implementation of electricity trading activities between countries or regions, including an overview of cross-border electricity trade, market structure and trading mechanisms used in cross-border electricity trade, power exchanges, transmission planning and case studies illustrating the opportunities and challenges of cross-border electricity trade. Overall, the training program on cross-border electricity trade provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the technical and regulatory aspects of planning and successful cross-border electricity trade.
As part of the program, faculty and specialists from ITEC partner countries participated in an international seminar held at the NTPC Business School, one of the most prestigious universities in the country. During the event, a teacher from a Turkmen university made a report on the development of cross-border electricity trade in Turkmenistan. Following the seminar, Gulshat Gurbandurdyeva was awarded a certificate of a memorable gift from the Rector of the NTPC School of Business.
The seminar, organized within the framework of ITEC, creates broad opportunities for professional growth, allowing specialists from partner countries to exchange experiences, master the latest technologies and approaches, and expand their horizons in their professional field. This contributes not only to the personal and career development of participants, but also helps to strengthen cooperation between countries in key areas such as energy, economics and technology.
