On March 31, a telephone conversation took place between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Exchanging greetings, the two leaders sincerely congratulated each other and the friendly peoples of their countries on the sacred holiday of Oraza Bayram, wishing that the Almighty accept their fasting, prayers, and good wishes observed during the blessed days of the holy month.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, emphasizing the importance he places on developing cooperation with neutral Turkmenistan, which advocates for global peace and sustainable development, conveyed heartfelt greetings and best wishes for health, well-being, and success from the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari.
The Prime Minister also extended warm greetings and sincere congratulations on the occasion of Oraza Bayram to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for these kind words, conveying greetings and heartfelt holiday congratulations from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, as well as on his own behalf. He also extended his best wishes to the head of the friendly state.
During the conversation, both sides noted that Turkmenistan and Pakistan are currently engaged in productive cooperation across various fields, including political and diplomatic, cultural and humanitarian, trade and economic, energy, and transport and communications sectors. In this regard, they emphasized the importance of further strengthening bilateral partnership and enriching it with new meaning and content.
The energy sector remains a priority area of Turkmen-Pakistani cooperation. A vivid example of this is the construction of the transnational Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, the high-voltage power transmission line, and the fiber-optic communication system along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route.
Highlighting the significance of these transnational projects, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif noted Pakistan’s keen interest in developing cooperation in this area. He also congratulated Turkmenistan on the United Nations' proclamation of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” at Turkmenistan’s initiative, stressing that this reflects the global community's strong support for the country's policy of positive neutrality. He further stated that Pakistan would actively participate in the international events to be held on this occasion.
During the discussion, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif invited the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero-Arkadag, and the President of Turkmenistan to visit Pakistan at a time of their convenience.
At the conclusion of the conversation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Turkmen-Pakistani relations and supporting efforts in this direction. They wished each other good health and success in their state duties, while also extending their best wishes for peace, prosperity, and well-being to the friendly peoples of both countries.
