The Esteemed President held a meeting with the President of the European Council

On March 3, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the first "Central Asia–European Union" Summit, met with the President of the European Council, António Costa.

After greeting each other, the Head of State and the President of the European Council expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to meet within the framework of the Summit and discuss the current state and prospects of cooperation.

Noting that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with the European Union in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian, and transport-communication sectors, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current meeting would contribute to enhancing multilateral partnership with the EU.

It was further emphasized that in recent years, Turkmenistan's interaction with the European Union in the political-diplomatic sphere has become more active. A vivid example of this is the partnership in the "Central Asia–European Union" format.

Highlighting the significance of the recently held meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the European Union in Ashgabat, the President of the European Council expressed confidence that such high-level events are intended to contribute to the gradual strengthening of a multifaceted and long-term partnership between the two regions.

In this context, the importance of further developing effective and mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union, considering the potential of Central Asian countries, was emphasized.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov underscored that Turkmenistan, together with the countries of the region and authoritative international organizations, is actively developing promising transport corridors such as North–South and East–West. He expressed confidence that these will serve as reliable bridges for expanding cooperation with Eurasian countries and trade-economic ties.

At the initiative of our country, the United Nations General Assembly has declared 2025 the "International Year of Peace and Trust." In this regard, a representative International Forum on Peace and Trust will be held in Ashgabat, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. The President of the country invited President of the European Council, António Costa, to participate in the forum.

Having highly assessed the level of dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union, the Head of State confirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to further strengthen fruitful relations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the European Council António Costa exchanged wishes for good health, well-being, and great success in their activities.
