The esteemed President held a meeting with the President of the European Commission

On March 3, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to participate in the first Central Asia–European Union Summit, met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Expressing satisfaction with the opportunity to meet with the head of the European Commission in the city of Samarkand, the Head of State wished for the successful conduct of the Summit.
Expressing confidence that the high-level meeting would provide an analysis of the state of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and discuss prospects for further development of cooperation, the interlocutors emphasized that this would contribute to addressing key tasks related to the activation of relations between Central Asia and the European Union.
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, noted the European Union's interest in strengthening multilateral partnerships with the countries of Central Asia, including Turkmenistan.
As the Head of State emphasized, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to expanding fruitful ties with the European Union. In line with the EU's promoted "green" energy policy, our country focuses on introducing new technologies and ensuring the stability of energy resources.
As part of the cooperation, successful projects are also being implemented in Turkmenistan in areas such as legislation, science and education, agriculture, environmental protection, and combating climate change.
In honor of the declaration of 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust" in accordance with a resolution by the UN General Assembly, adopted at the initiative of our country, a representative International Forum on Peace and Trust will be held in Ashgabat in December of this year. This forum will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, continued the Head of State, inviting Ursula von der Leyen to participate in it.
The President of the country also thanked the President of the European Commission for her personal contribution to the development of relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, expressing confidence in the further successful expansion of partnership based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit, exchanged their best wishes for each other.
