On April 15, 2025, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, a side event titled “Youth-Led Scientific Innovation and Policy Action: Advancing Sustainable Development” was held as part of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum. The event was organized by the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Azat Atayev, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the key role of youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlighted that the state policy pursued under the leadership of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan is aimed at providing comprehensive support to young people and unlocking their potential.
In his speech, the representative of Turkmenistan linked these initiatives with the main priorities outlined in the national development strategy, which stresses the importance of interstate cooperation, scientific and technological modernization, and innovative approaches to solving current challenges. He reminded that the “Dialogue of Central Asian Youth,” established in October 2023 in the smart and sustainable city of Arkadag, also aims to support youth initiatives focused on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Azat Atayev emphasized that these efforts to unite young people, scientists, and entrepreneurs are fully in line with the policy of the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, which is directed at strengthening international cooperation, promoting innovation, and developing human capital.
In conclusion, the Deputy Minister of Education invited all interested parties to attend an event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 (2015) on Youth, Peace and Security, which will be held on April 16, 2025, at the UN Headquarters. According to the Turkmen side, further coordination of youth initiatives at the regional and global levels will stimulate scientific and technological progress and strengthen the role of youth.
