New York, April 16, 2025 — The Second Meeting of Central Asian Youth Dialogue will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, initiated by Turkmenistan — a country where neutrality has become a driving force of international rapprochement and constructive cooperation.
This gathering will take place in the format of a high-level session as part of the ECOSOC Youth Forum, and is dedicated to the UN-designated International Year of Peace and Trust, as well as the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security. Central Asia — a region where youth is emerging as a catalyst for sustainable development — will once again demonstrate to the world a powerful example of unity, dialogue, and collective progress.
The Turkmen delegation will include representatives of the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs, as well as active students from the country’s leading universities. Delegations from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with representatives of the United Nations, international donors, and partner organizations, are also expected to participate.
Representatives of other countries and international organizations have also expressed interest in taking part, which demonstrates that the Dialogue platform has transcended its regional framework. This is a clear indication that the initiative, born in Central Asia, is gaining global relevance as an effective model of youth diplomacy, bringing together efforts to advance peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development worldwide.
Following the policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Turkmenistan once again takes the lead in establishing a unique platform for youth engagement, where key regional challenges and opportunities are discussed, and proposals for the institutionalization of the Dialogue are advanced.
Participants will present current projects, explore the development of a culture of peace, sustainable education, social entrepreneurship, and prepare for the upcoming youth forum within the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), to be held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone in August 2025.
This forum serves as a practical implementation of Resolution 2250, placing emphasis on the crucial role of youth in promoting peace, preventing conflict, and advancing inclusive development. Special attention will be paid to formulating a common vision for future reforms, developing regional cooperation, and establishing a rotational mechanism for future meetings.
The Dialogue, launched by Turkmenistan in 2023, has already proven its viability and relevance. It has evolved into more than just a youth gathering — it has become a new model of 21st-century diplomacy, where those shaping the future — young people — take center stage.
The forum is expected to result in an expanded youth cooperation network in Central Asia, the establishment of sustained mechanisms for engagement, and the development of concrete proposals for LLDC3, along with efforts to promote the role of youth on the international stage.
The next Central Asian Youth Dialogue in New York is more than just an event — it is a powerful demonstration of how the region’s youth has become a voice for peace, partnership, and progress. Turkmenistan once again stands as not only the initiator but also a reliable driver of ideas capable of shaping the future of the region and the world.
