Opening ceremony of the 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad of Schoolchildren

In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, special importance is attached to the development of our state on the basis of scientific achievements, innovative technologies, and leading practices, and in this area, encouraging progress is being made in modernizing the education system of our country. In the new historical era, comprehensive work is being successfully carried out to develop the natural talents and abilities of our young generation, who are our future, to increase their enthusiasm for science and creativity, and to guide them to a profession, vocation, specialty, and a clear life path. Along with facilities related to the social system, new educational institutions are being built, educational work is being further improved, and digital education is being developed.

The concern for the young generation at the state level is bearing fruit. Today, happy youth, who worthily continue the patriotic spirit of our ancestors, humane social norms, labor traditions, and noble national qualities, are further glorifying our country through diligent studying, learning, creating, and building.

Our country, which was once the ancient home of the first sciences and knowledge, cultures and arts, is reviving today. Under the wise leadership of our Esteemed President, the reputation of our state Turkmenistan as a country that holds international Olympiads, creative contests, forums and festivals at a high level and strengthens international cooperation in this area is expanding worldwide. The 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad, held among schoolchildren in specialized secondary school No. 131 in Ashgabat in the “International Year of Peace and Trust” on the initiative of our hero Serdar Arkadagly, is a clear illustration of this, recognizing that education is the source of progress and a bridge that unites humanity.

As previously reported in the press, a large group of schoolchildren and their teachers from 15 countries of the world arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad. A total of 231 talented young people from 15 countries, including the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Federative Democratic Republic of Nepal, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Turkey, as well as Turkmenistan, and 49 foreign teachers who accompanied them, were offered bread by girls in national costumes, and were greeted with the words "Welcome, friends, to Turkmenistan!" in world languages, typical of Turkmen hospitality.

At a ceremony held early in the morning on the spacious square in front of this school, the winners of the "Garaşsyzlygyň merjen däneleri" competition for talented children, held within the framework of the competition for the "Türkmeniň Altyn asyry" award announced by the President of Turkmenistan, united children's dance groups of the "Gunesh" choir of the specialized music boarding school under Maya Kulyyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, and the Ashgabat Palace of Children and Youth, performed songs and dances praising our beloved Motherland, the happy times with Arkadagly Serdar and Hero Arkadag, our hardworking and brave people, our beautiful nature, and celebrating our principles of peace, kindness, and friendship and brotherhood. The songs and dances performed by the winners of the competition brought inexhaustible joy and enthusiasm to the hearts of the participants of the Olympiad and became a vivid illustration of the high respect paid to Turkmen culture.

Then, the participants of the international Olympiad got acquainted with the book exhibition, organized in the educational building of this school, equipped with innovations and modern technologies, equipped with modern textbooks, showcasing the achievements and creative projects of our schoolchildren in international competitions of various years, works of fine arts by students of children's art schools. Foreign students and teachers proudly noted that the books of the President of Turkmenistan, Honorable Serdar Berdimuhamedow and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Honorable Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow are valuable resources gifted to all mankind. During the exhibition, the moments of schoolchildren performing national crafts and handicrafts, the musical composition "Sazlar Chemeni" performed by the children's violinist group of the "Mukam" specialized music boarding school under Maya Kulyyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, made a special impression on the guests.

The participants of the ceremony watched videos dedicated to independent, permanent neutral Turkmenistan, the development of the education system, proud news, events, and internationally recognized achievements.

At the opening ceremony, the heads of the education sector of our country, the head of the jury of the international Olympiad, members of foreign delegations, foreign and Turkmen schoolchildren delivered welcoming speeches and noted that in the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, our state creates all the conditions for young people to grow up to be knowledgeable, well-informed people. Particular attention was paid to the high standards achieved through the exemplary state doctrine of the founder of the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State - the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the creation and construction of the Honorable President of Turkmenistan, great achievements, an increasingly strong position in the international arena, and the ambitious work that unites our society around lofty goals, in particular, the great work being carried out to improve the national education system, educate healthy, inspired, capable of using innovative technologies, determined, purposeful youth.

The speakers drew attention to the fact that mathematics has been studied since ancient times, that mathematics, along with various fields of science, developed at a high level in Central Asia and the Middle East in the Middle Ages, and that outstanding achievements in various fields of science were achieved through the efforts of famous scientists such as Muhammed ibn Musa Khorezmi, Ahmed ibn Abdullah Mervezi, Ahmed Nasevi, Abu Reyhan Biruni, Abu Ali ibn Sina. They expressed their admiration for the great discoveries in mathematics made by scientists such as al-Khorezmi, Ibn Sina, Omar Khayyam, Nasireddin Tusi, and Ulugbek, as well as the continuation of this historical experience in Turkmenistan. The speeches emphasized the great importance of this international competition in revealing the most talented young Turkmen and foreign mathematicians, as well as in promoting to the world the principles of peace, trust and dialogue, which underlie the philosophy of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Honorable Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, "Dialogue is the guarantor of peace", and the Resolution "Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan", unanimously adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations at the initiative of the Honorable President of Turkmenistan.

Infinite gratitude was expressed to the Honorable President of Turkmenistan for the wonderful conditions created for visiting hospitable Turkmenistan, for the modernization of the education system in accordance with world standards, for the care and direct support given to the education, learning, creation, and labor of young people.

Turkmen folk music performed on the dutar has a positive effect on the human soul. As is known, the national craft of Turkmenistan, as well as the art of dutar making and playing on the dutar and Turkmen national singing art, are included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Within the framework of this ceremony, Magtymguly Pyragy's poem "Turkmen" and the folk song "Koneguzer" created boundless pride in the Turkmen national music and art. Also, the foreign song "Sway", songs "Gel, Türkmenistan!", "Parahatlyk Guşy", "Turkmenistan - Bitarapları mekany" were performed.

The joyful opening ceremony of the International Mathematics Olympiad for Schoolchildren, the beautiful scenery of the cities of Ashgabat bathed in the wonderful beauty of spring, and new acquaintances provided the participants of the Olympiad with unforgettable happy moments.
