THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS STARTED IN ASHGABAT

On April 22, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad for school students was held at Specialized Secondary School No. 131 in Ashgabat, organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. A total of 231 students are participating in the Olympiad, representing the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the State of Qatar, as well as general education schools from Turkmenistan. The opening ceremony was also attended by 52 teachers from the mentioned countries, alongside distinguished local teachers in the field of exact sciences.

Foreign delegations were welcomed in accordance with the national traditions of hospitality. Songs performed in both Turkmen and the languages of the participating countries gave the ceremony a festive and unifying atmosphere, celebrating the values of creativity, peace, kindness, and friendship. These musical performances served as a vivid call for strengthening peace and brotherhood among nations through the universal language of art. An exhibition was also organized in the school’s atrium, showcasing achievements in the education sector, student life, academic and creative projects, artwork by students from children’s art schools, and educational literature.

Representatives of friendly nations who spoke at the event expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the warm welcome and the high level of organizational excellence demonstrated. A special cultural program was prepared for the foreign delegations. In the second half of the day, the participants visited some of Ashgabat’s most iconic landmarks, including the «Ylham» Park and the State Circus of Turkmenistan, enjoying their time in a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.

The 2nd International Mathematics Olympiad for school students will continue until April 26, 2025.
