Meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium with the Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the European Parliament

On 22 April 2025, a meeting took place at the European Parliament between the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium Sapar Palvanov and the Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the European Parliament Sylwia Kosinska

During the meeting, the Ambassador delivered an official invitation letter addressed to the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola from the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to attend the International Forum on Peace and Trust, scheduled to be held on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat.

The parties discussed current issues on the international and regional agenda, exchanged views on contemporary geopolitical processes, and emphasized the growing importance of peaceful dialogue and multilateral cooperation amid global challenges.

Special attention was given to Turkmenistan’s initiative to declare 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. The Ambassador noted that this coincides with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. He underlined the significance of the upcoming forum in Ashgabat as a platform for promoting the principles of open dialogue and trust between nations.

In turn, Ms. Sylwia Kosinska praised Turkmenistan’s peace-promoting initiatives and expressed interest in further developing interparliamentary cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their willingness to continue engagement and make joint efforts to further develop fruitful dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union.
