The 300th anniversary of the birth of the great philosopher and classical poet of the East, Magtymguly Pyragy, was celebrated in grand style at Kent State University in Ohio, United States.
The event was attended by a delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev, who is currently on a working visit to the U.S. to establish long-term cooperation with prestigious American universities. The event also included U.S. residents, Turkmen students studying in the U.S., and members of the Turkmen community living there.
The opening of the celebration was marked by speeches from Kent State University’s Vice President for Global Education, Marcello Fantoni, and Director of Eurasian Strategy, Aýýa Hudaýbergenova.
During the celebration, teachers and students from the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction performed music and folklore numbers, and Maya Tuyliyeva, founder and director of the "Kansas City" Music Academy in the United States, performed a piano recital.Additionally, at this celebration, David Hassler, the executive director of the "Bob and Walt Wick" Poetry Center in the United States, and Durdy Ilmammedov, a scholar specializing in Magtymguly’s works, gave speeches.
Furthermore, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the U.S., Meret Orazov, Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Azat Atayev, and other participants extensively discussed the life and creative legacy of the great philosopher and classical poet of the East, Magtymguly Pyragy, as well as the profound meaning and essence of his classical philosophical poems.
This event was organized as part of a working visit by a Turkmen delegation led by Deputy Minister of Education Azat Atayev, aimed at establishing long-term cooperation with prestigious universities in the U.S. The visit also aligns with the task set in the "Strategy for International Cooperation of the Youth of Turkmenistan for 2023-2030," which includes exploring the possibility of opening branches of reputable foreign universities, including on the basis of higher educational institutions in Turkmenistan.
