On April 25, 2025, the II International Mathematics Olympiad among school students was successfully concluded at the specialized secondary school No. 131 in Ashgabat. As we know, a total of 231 students participated in this educational competition from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the State of Qatar, as well as from general education schools in Turkmenistan.
The closing ceremony of the International Mathematics Olympiad was attended by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan and relevant leaders, the head of the jury, members of foreign delegations, school students from foreign countries and Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the media. At the beginning of the event, representatives of the delegations from the participating countries spoke, emphasizing that this educational competition is of great importance for strengthening peace, fostering friendship among nations, and enhancing international scientific and educational cooperation. They also expressed gratitude to the people of Turkmenistan and to the National Leader, Hero Arkadag, and Hero Serdar for creating such wonderful opportunities.
Subsequently, the winners of the competition were awarded. As is known, the competition was held at levels A and B, and the jury, composed of teachers from secondary schools in the country and abroad, oversaw the conduct of the Olympiad. Thus, the results of the participants were analyzed, and students who were awarded bronze, silver, and gold medals were ceremoniously presented with honorary certificates and valuable gifts on behalf of the esteemed President. Performances by students from higher educational institutions in the country, including students from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, added a unique spirit to the event.
For reference, at the II International Mathematics Olympiad among school students, Vietnamese participants achieved high results, winning 6 gold medals. Additionally, in this ranking, students from Turkmenistan secured second place with 5 gold medals, while representatives from the People's Republic of China and Uzbekistan took third place with 4 gold medals. In total, participants of the Olympiad were awarded 101 medals at levels A and B. Students from Turkmenistan achieved the highest results, winning 31 medals, including 5 gold, 9 silver, and 17 bronze medals. In this ranking, students from Uzbekistan secured second place with 17 medals, while representatives from the People's Republic of China and Tajikistan took third place with 10 medals.
Thus, the II International Mathematics Olympiad among school students was successfully concluded, and its goal was to promote the development of exact sciences, enhance interactions between the younger generation and teachers, and contribute to strengthening friendship and peace through science and education. These principles align with the concepts of our year, which is globally recognized as the «Year of International Peace and Trust» and correspond to the 30th anniversary of our permanent neutrality.
