Today, a meeting of participants of the First Ministerial Forum of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on Sustainable Development was held in the Markav Hotel in the city of Arkadag. An official photo session took place in the hotel lobby, after which the forum continued its work in the small conference hall.
The forum was attended by heads and representatives of government bodies of ECO member states, international organizations, diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as specialists from Turkmen ministries and sectoral departments.
The main objective of the meeting is to promote partnership and exchange practical ideas for the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, taking into account the specificities of the region. During the discussions, participants shared experiences and sought solutions for adapting the Sustainable Development Goals to the real conditions of their countries.
Following the forum, the adoption of a final document is planned, which will serve as a guideline for further joint work.
The forum in the city of Arkadag became the first such event in the history of the ECO. For Turkmenistan, this is another step in strengthening its role in the regional and international arena in matters of sustainable development. The city of Arkadag, opened in 2023, was chosen not by chance: its construction is initially based on the principles of "green" development and sustainable infrastructure.
