On May 2, as part of the opening ceremony of the Balkanabat International Airport, the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov observed the first landings of aircraft operated by the CJSC "Turkmenistan Airlines" and foreign airlines.
The passenger terminal of the international airport, built by the private enterprise “Gundogdy,” a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, is designed to serve 100 passengers per hour and consists of three floors. Its total area is 5,203 square meters.
The terminal building includes waiting lounges for passengers, ticket offices, facilities for medical services, customs and migration control, an internet café, a gift shop, a shower room, technical rooms, and other amenities.
The airport grounds feature security screening points, a fire safety and rescue service building, specialized vehicles, buildings for aerodrome services and aircraft ground and technical maintenance, a covered car park, a cargo terminal, a hotel, several technical facilities, and other infrastructure.
The airport is also equipped with a runway, a taxiway, aircraft parking stands for 6 airplanes and 4 helicopters, and an air traffic control tower. The height of the tower is 44.05 meters, and its total area is 410.92 square meters. The structure features a distinctive design and engineering solutions.
The airport complex also includes adjacent areas and car parking facilities for passengers.
